Supporting Partner

The Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC) is the world’s oldest sea turtle research and conservation group. Founded in 1959, its mission is to ensure the survival of sea turtles through research, education, training, advocacy and protection of the natural habitats upon which they depend. Based in Florida, the organisation carries out worldwide programs to conserve and recover sea turtle populations.

Certina and stc

In 2017 Certina announced its support for the Sea Turtle Conservancy and its Tour de Turtles project. Certina’s own use of the turtle emblem – a symbol of resilience – dates back to the introduction of its acclaimed DS Concept protection system in 1959 – the same year the Sea Turtle Conservancy was founded.

STC - Tour de turtles

This “tour” is an annual online event which the STC uses to give the public exclusive insights into the migration of sea turtles. Satellite technology makes it possible to track the route taken by marked turtles in real time. The Tour de Turtles tracks the entire distance that each competitor travels in the water over several weeks. The “winner” – that is the turtle that has travelled the furthest distance – will be announced on October. Just as in previous years, we will be sponsoring one special turtle whose journey we will be following particularly closely, but we wish each and every one of these wonderful turtles the very best for their travels.
