With the new DS SUPER PH2000M, Certina pushes the boundaries of its underwater watch collection further, introducing the first PH timepiece engineered for depths of up to 2,000 meters below the surface of the ocean. An environment of crushing, near-impossible pressure. A feat of engineering built for a world where almost nothing else survives. Rooted in the brand’s DS concept introduced in 1959 and its PH diving watches launched in the 1960s, this new generation doubles previous performance standards, reaching 2,000 meters and is also equipped with the next evolution of Double Security: the DS Concept Extreme Shock Resistance. Crafted in Grade 2 titanium, the collection introduces four models defined by bold material and color combinations, featuring ceramic bezels and available on a choice of titanium, rubber, or fabric strap. Powered by the Powermatic 80 movement with Nivachron™ balance spring, the DS SUPER PH2000M delivers precision, endurance and reliability under extreme pressure.

Titanium

Titanium is a metallic element which is not only extremely robust, hypoallergenic and corrosion-resistant, but also particularly light - approximately half as heavy as steel. This is why Certina uses it to manufacture particularly comfortable cases, bracelets and clasps.

Bezel material

The ceramic used in watchmaking is hardened in a firing process at a temperature of more than 900 °C. Certina's ceramic bezels, cabochons and strap elements not only look good - they are also scratch-resistant and hypoallergenic, and they retain their intensive colour and shine for a long time.

Super-LumiNova

SLN is the acronym for Super-LumiNova®, a phosphorescent luminescent material. The BG W9 type of SLN, used by Certina, emits the stored light in the form of a bluish glow in the dark. SLN poses no risk to health and is used to coat hands, indices and bezels. Its brightness decreases in the dark after some time, but it is automatically recharged when light strikes it.

Antireflection treatment on one side

It is possible to enhance the quality of a sapphire crystal to an even greater extent by providing it with an anti-reflective coating on one or both sides. The Certina brand is becoming increasingly focussed on equipping its timepieces with an extremely high-quality anti-reflective coating on both sides, whereby several layers of this coating on both sides of the crystal ensure that it is possible to see through the timepieces in an optimum manner.

Sapphire crystal

Sapphire watch crystal is made of aluminium oxide powder (Al2O3) heated to over 2000 °C. The resultant sapphire nugget is cut with great precision into fine slices, trimmed and polished. Sapphire is extremely scratch-resistant, shock-resistant and is very transparent. This is why sapphire crystal is an essential element in the DS Concept and is therefore used by Certina in all of its models to protect the dials.

The power reserve provides you with information about how long a mechanical timepiece can run for without being wound. Most timepieces have a power reserve of around 38 to 42 hours. Certina's innovative Powermatic 80 automatic calibre offers a power reserve of up to 80 hours - almost double as long as comparable models.
