#Tide Ocean Material®

The Certina collection is increasingly marked by sustainability. In 2021, the brand is launching high-quality ecological packaging made entirely from recyclable materials for the first time. Even the cushion on which the timepieces rest inside their box is made from organic cotton and recycled polyester. In parallel, the company is presenting a new watch strap that utilises sustainable fabric instead of materials such as leather or metal: #tide ocean material® upcycles plastic waste from the oceans into fashionable and robust bracelets.

Collected with care, crafted with purpose

The journey of #tide ocean material® begins with plastic waste collected along coasts and island communities before it reaches the sea. This responsible sourcing model supports local livelihoods while preventing pollution at its origin. Each recovered piece of plastic becomes the starting point for a fully traceable, certified material.

The science behind #tide ocean material®

#tide ocean material® is created through a mechanical process developed with scientists from OST University. The collected plastic is cleaned, refined and converted into high-grade granules, then spun into strong, colourful yarns. The result is a robust textile that meets Certina’s expectations for durability and everyday comfort.
