Striking, fashionable and equipped with a mechanical heart that beats for sustainability: As a genuine diver’s watch, the new DS Action Diver Sea Turtle Conservancy 60th Anniversary Special Edition feels as much at home under water as on land. The maritime timekeeper features the colors and logo of the Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC), which receives a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the watch.

Sustaining our planet and its biodiversity is one of the most urgent tasks of our time. In particular, the very worrisome condition of our oceans has become the focus of increasing attention.

Certina has always felt very much at home in the water, and now the watchmaker would like to give something back to this source of inspiration, sometimes thought (mistakenly) to be inexhaustible. As a partner of the non-profit Sea Turtle Conservancy, Certina is dedicated to the protection of sea turtles and their natural habitats. These fascinating animals are not simply high-performance athletes that can swim enormous distances. They are also the descendants of turtles that were already masters of the oceans some 225 million years ago – and yet today their very existence is under threat from human beings.

Ever since the 1959 launch of the DS (Double Security) concept, at Certina the sea turtle symbol has stood for maximum resistance. 1959 was also the year the STC began its work in Florida. And now, with the new special model in the colours of the animal protection organization, the Swiss watchmaker celebrates its shared commitment – and the double anniversary.

The DS Action Diver Sea Turtle Conservancy 60th Anniversary links two of the Certina brand’s major themes: the exceptional robustness of its timepieces, and the turtle symbol. With its unidirectional rotating bezel, generous Super-LumiNova® coating, screw-down crown, screw-down case back and water resistance up to 300 meters, it easily meets the ISO 6425 standard governing diver’s watches. The watch is powered by an automatic Powermatic 80 movement with a power reserve of up to 80 hours, mounted in a 43mm stainless steel case. A date display is positioned at 3 o’clock on the black dial. A black rubber strap with fold-over clasp, two pushers and a diver extension ensure a perfect fit, above and under water.
