CERTINA signs up a brazen virtuoso
CERTINA is proud to announce its new ambassador in the exciting, extreme world of auto racing, the stocky and affable Timur Sadredinov. At the young age of just 20, the fearless Russian already boasts a respectable list of racing achievements, with a long string of podium finishes and participation in some of the most prestigious national events of his big homeland. Precise, bold and infectiously enthusiastic, the young driver is CERTINA's new racing trump card and a perfect, sporty ally in the vibrant and expanding Russian market.
Timur Sadredinov was born in Moscow on May 9, 1989, two short decades ago. Precocious as many future stars often are, he was just ten when he finished the 1999-2000 season in 1st place in the Russian baggy-kart Championship. A year later, he finished 3rd overall in Russia's National Oka Junior Championship, a feat he repeated again in the national Oka Junior Autocross series in 2002. For something a little different in 2003, instead of one 3rd place, he took three 1st places, respectively in Oka Junior Ice-Track, Rally-Cross and Auto-cross championships. The following year, he repeated his exploits of the former season but added a little spice by participating for the first time in the Russian LADA Cup series. To close off in style, he then took 1st place in the Moscow Regional Ice-Track Championship. A busy winning schedule for a driver then not quite sixteen. In 2005, the very promising Timur Sadredinov was named Rookie of the Year in the Russian LADA Revolution Championship, and he picked up 3rd place in the traditional Autumn Marathon Endurance Race. His winning ways continued in 2006, with three wins in the Russian Touring Light Car Championship, two wins in the Russian Superproduction Car Cup, a title of Rookie of the Year in the ADAC VW Polo Cup, and a 2nd place overall finish in the European Superproduction Car Cup. In 2007, podiums in the Russian Ice-Track Championship and the Seat Leon Supercopa as well as a very important win in the "Za rulem" Stars' Race decorated the year's achievements. Year 2008 marked his debut in the World Touring Car Championship, and his excellent driving earned him a 2nd place overall in the Independents' Trophy. In 2009, he participated in the Russian Rally Cup and finished on the podium for the Russian Rally Renault Logan Cup. The 2010 season will see Timur driving in the European Touring Car Championship as well as the Seat Leon Euro Cup, and the two closing stages of the World Touring Car Championship in Okayama (Japan) and Macau. In these two races, the most prestigious and difficult of the WTCC calendar, he will be driving a Seat Leon TFSI prepared by the Spanish Sunred Engineering team. His winter driving commitments will continue to include the Russian Ice-Track Championship races. Timur keeps adding to his ongoing success, enhanced recently by his having become the youngest-ever double winner of the important "Za Rulem" Stars' Race in Russia.
All of this is particularly impressive when one considers Timur's very young age. A long career awaits all that talent, and CERTINA is proud to have the opportunity of participating in Timur Sadredinov's fantastic journey forward. There is a very strong relationship between the drive, determination and courage of this young driver and the Swiss watchmaker's dynamic corporate philosophy. Both fields ride that delicate but exciting line where technology, design, performance and determination make everything happen.
Adrian Bosshard, CERTINA President, about Timur Sadredinov: "So early on in his career, he has already proven himself to be not just a fast race driver, but a man with a clear and decisive idea of where he is going. We are pleased to stand by Timur in his ambitious trajectory and to have him as a dynamic, young and sporty ambassador for our brand."
"It's an honour for me to have a partner like Certina," says Timur. "Their watches are famous for precision, reliability and strongly sporty character that suits me perfectly. It's an additional motivation for me to go out and do my best, in every race."
