Snowy exploits and friendly smiles in Beijing

Certina's latest success in China, thanks to its partnership with the Xin-Yu Watch Group, brought much warmth to an otherwise frosty-weather event in Beijing on September 12. The official launch of the updated and revised Certina DS 1, heir to the legendary DS 1 from 1960 (the DS system had been introduced in 1959), was held at a ski hall, brilliantly decorated for the occasion, and with everyone clad in thermal ski outfits. Fireworks and a skiing demonstration opened the event, before a large crowd and many journalists. While Susan Chen, Lin Fei Wang and Adrian Bosshard worked their way up a replica of the Dhaulagiri, a historical film was shown about Certina. The three climbers then placed a symbolic Certina flag at the summit of the small mountain, to everyone's great cheers. More fireworks then introduced the next part of the event, a fashion show where models featured key Certina products, and made their way through rows of illuminated showcases.
